Colne Housing has celebrated a long serving member of staff’s 25 years with the Essex-based housing association.
Home Officer Rachel Gentry joined Colne as an Administration Assistant and soon showed potential for developing a career in housing in a hands-on role.
The Head of Housing at the time of her first role encouraged her to pursue qualifications in housing. Colne funded her BTEC National Certification in Housing, a HNC in Housing Studies, and a Diploma in Housing Management. During this period of gaining her qualifications Rachel became a Housing Officer, which developed into the Home Officer role in 2018.
Mum of one Rachel, who lives in Colchester, said “I have loved my time here at Colne. I am proud of gaining my qualifications, the work I do with residents and the good friendships I have made with my colleagues.”
Colne celebrated her 25 years’ service with a gathering of friends, family, colleagues and residents at their Colchester head office.
Colne’s Chief Executive Sara Thakkar, said: “It’s brilliant to be able to celebrate staff achievements in our close-knit organisation, where a long service such as Rachel’s has a huge impact on our communities and staff.”
Rachel has pursued professional growth to deliver excellent customer service and her passion for her work shines through 25 years after joining Colne.”
Rachel received gifts for her long-service, from her line manager Jane Ball, who is Colne’s Head of Customer Services, and Sara Thakkar.
Colne Housing, which was formed in 1973, is a vibrant, growing housing association which focuses on enabling independent living and currently manage over 3,000 affordable homes across Essex and Suffolk.
