Unlocking Eastern Potential
Colne Housing’s Annual Report 2018-2019
At Colne we very much celebrate our long history. We are proud of the people who have come through our doors, not only to create that history and shape who we are today, but critically, the people who remind us why we are here; those who have had their lives changed for the better in the 46 years of Colne’s existence.
In 2016, we launched our three year business strategy, Enabling Independent Living. This year marks the final phase of our modernisation journey and the start of a new chapter, facing the next decade – from 2020 – bigger, better and bolder.
Working with our development partner Iceni Homes, we have provided 132 new homes in the financial year. We have responded to the challenges of the Green Paper on Social Housing; modernising resident engagement and continuing to lead the way with our approach to health and safety.
To ensure we can build more homes in future and improve services for people in housing need, we launched a challenge to our partners in the region – Unlocking Eastern Potential. We have chosen to explore this vision with Greenfields Community Housing, an 8,500-home Community Gateway based in Braintree, Essex. In the coming year we will discuss if joining together can provide the solutions mapped in our proposition.
We use our strong balance sheet, Value for Money approaches, financial performance and good reputation to play our role in tackling the housing crisis in East Anglia.
We also enable communities to thrive. £20,000 was awarded to local organisations to tackle challenges in our neighbourhoods.
