Community Street Wardens' Scheme

Colchester Borough Council, partly supported by financing from Colne Housing Society, operates a Community Street Wardens Scheme in which wardens work with the community to help resolve local issues.

The objective of the scheme is to improve the quality of life for residents working in or visiting the Colchester area and to reduce the incidence and fear of crime and disorder through:

crime and disorder reduction
Community development and reassurance
Environmental improvements
Targeting drug and alcohol misuse issues

Work includes tackling anti social behaviour, environmental offences such as littering, dog fouling and abandoned cars along with resolving areas of concern and initiating projects with local residents.
