Senior Support Officer Fixed Term Contract

Location: Colchester, Essex

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Support Officer to join the team based in Colchester. You will be on a full time fixed term contract for 6 months and will be paid a competitive salary of £31,500 per annum dependent on skills and experience.

We are ambitious about our Care & Support service and are looking for people who share that passion. Your role will be to ensure our customers receive the best possible service from Colne and we continue to provide, manage and maintain excellent homes.

We are looking for a Senior Support Officer who can work well within the team, support department projects and objectives and manage well in a fast paced, changing environment. We require a self-motivated, enthusiastic team player who is keen to expand his/her experience and skills in a supportive team.

Responsibilities of our Senior Support Officer

- Ensure that your team provide an excellent intensive peripatetic housing management and customer focused support service to all residents.

- Assist in the development of relevant customer intelligence to enable customer involvement and better targeting of services

- Work closely with the Care & Support Manager to develop and implement strategies and policies to achieve continuous improvement in line with good practice.

- Manage and motivate team members to deliver excellent services using Colne’s performance management framework including team meetings/briefings, training and development plans, supervision and annual appraisals and taking formal action to secure improvement

- Ensure effective record keeping and timely reporting against relevant KPIs as required

Skills needed to become our Senior Support Officer

- GCSE or equivalent qualifications

- Experience of providing support / neighbourhood or customer services

- Experience of regulation; risk and compliance

- Knowledge / experience of delivering services under a partnership or management agreement

- Understanding of sector and service challenges

- Experience managing staff

- Experience of delivering an excellent aids and adaptations service

Income Management Advisor

Location: Colchester, Essex

Responsibilities of our Income Management Advisor

- Provide residents with prompt, professional and accurate information and advice in relation to account enquiries.

- Be proactive in contacting residents to support in the early intervention and prevention of rent and service charge arrears, and agree collection of outstanding monies.

- Provide good quality and accurate information and advice on income maximisation and welfare benefits.

- Maintain expertise and knowledge on Welfare Reform and benefit changes to mitigate the wider impact of Welfare Reform on residents and Colne.

- Prepare court paperwork and represent Colne at court hearings to achieve possession and/or money judgements.

Skills needed to become our Income Management Advisor

- Experience of income collection, arrears recovery and possession actions.

- Experience of delivering a customer-focussed service

- Knowledge of the court system for possession hearings and the ability to present cases at court

- Knowledge and understanding of Welfare Reform changes, specifically Universal Credit.

  • Provide technically astute, commercially considered technical advice about a range of potentially complex building defects and repairing obligations. You will need to evidence your understanding of buildings and connected legislation and regulations that may affect the company’s assets and will work closely with contractors to drive performance and efficiencies.
  • Complete property inspections including the identification and categorisation of building condition and defects and the specification of reactive and planned remedial work while exercising technical due diligence. You will be expected to carry out pre acquisition, stock condition and asset appraisal surveys.
  • Have compliance and risk management at the heart of all that you do. You will  need to demonstrate your understanding and commitment to fulfilling that obligation. You will work closely with our development company to ensure that our new-build homes are the best they can be.
