Colne manages four leasehold retirement schemes, these contain a mixture of apartments and bungalows for people aged 55 and over. The schemes are in Colchester, Manningtree and Clacton on Sea.
Some of the schemes have a residential warden, and all benefit from a 24 hour emergency alarm system so if you need to summon help you can do so easily.
Residents have use of the communal facilities such as a lounge, laundry room and gardens.
With leasehold properties you are responsible for the maintenance & decoration inside your property, but Colne are responsible for maintaining the communal areas and services. You will pay a monthly service charge towards the cost of this maintenance.
Colne offers a variety of types of shared ownership housing schemes. Most of the properties available are one or two bedroom apartments or maisonettes. A share of the property is sold to you and then you may pay a rent on the remaining share. Often a mortgage is used to help buy your share. For a summary of the available properties and for further details please visit both www.homebuy.co.uk. and www.helptobuy.org.uk
If you currently rent your home from Colne Housing you may be able to buy it under the Right to Buy or the Right to Acquire schemes. Whether you are eligible will depend on your tenancy, your property and the time that you have held a tenancy. You will receive a discount off the current market value of your property.
We have the following low cost home ownership properties for re-sale.
