Sheltered Housing
The Society’s sheltered housing programme provides accommodation for people aged 55 and older across Essex. In these schemes (except those marked *) we employ a Retirement Scheme Officer who provides support to enable our tenants to live independently for as long as possible.
Sheltered Support
The support tenants receive whilst living in sheltered accommodations is an integral part of their tenancy, and includes an emergency careline service and Retirement Scheme Officer. Retirement Scheme Officers provide support to tenants by visiting each weekday. They liaise with other carers and social services to ensured our tenants’ well being, but they are unable to provide nursing or personal care, cleaning services or administer medication.
Properties
We have almost 200 properties reserved for sheltered housing. All properties have a bedroom, bath/shower room and a lounge/diner with a kitchen. Upper flats are serviced by a lift and each scheme (except those marked *) has a residents’ lounge for social activities.

Alderman Howe Lodge, Highwoods: 32 x 1 and 2 bedroom flats
New Farm Lodge, Stanway: 24 x 1 bedroom flats, 5 x 2 bedroom bungalows
Orchard Lodge, Tiptree: 24 x 1 bedroom flats
Maldon
Colne House, Heybridge: 24 x 1 bedroom flats
* Knights Close, Tolleshunt Knights: 11 x 1 and 2 bedroom bungalows
* Priors Way, Southminster : 6 x 1 bedroom bungalows
Tendring
* Coppins Road, Clacton: 4 x 1 bedroom bungalows
Ironside Walk, Manningtree: 40 x 1 bedroom flats (16 Extra Care)
John King Court, Brightlingsea: 20 x 1 bedroom flats
