Teams from Essex-based Housing Association Colne have raised over £3,000 for their charity of the year St Helena Hospice.
During 2014 and 2015 they took part in the three month Birkett Long £50 Challenge, held a quiz night, bake offs and various dress down days. Members of Colne’s fundraising committee visited the hospice in Colchester to meet some of the patients cared for and hand over the cheque.
The money will help the hospice to continue the support they provide to people with life-limiting illness, as well as their families and friends. Liz Mullender, of Colne, said: “Supporting local charities has always been important to Colne and our teams and are happy to have hit our £3,000 target. Many of our colleagues have friends or families cared for by the hospice and we know how much it relies on fundraising to provide such vital care”
The hospice’s Corporate Fundraising Partnerships Manager Sarah Wilson said: “We would like to thank everyone at Colne for working so hard to raise such a fantastic amount of money for the hospice. It could pay for three oxygen concentrators on our Inpatient Unit to help those who are struggling with breathlessness. We are pleased to have Colne as a dedicated supporter and hope to working with them again in the future.”
