Colne welcomes a new face at Orchard Gardens

Colchester based Colne Housing Society is expanding its team in its 35th anniversary year with the appointment of a Leasehold Scheme Officer at one of its managed residential sites in the town.
Helen Bilham is Colne Housing’s newest recruit having previously worked for an Essex newspaper group and for outsourced contractors at the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock.
Helen, who is now in post at the mixed 14 bungalows and 29 flats development for the over 55s at Orchard Gardens, Ipswich Road, Colchester, was delighted to take up the post after moving to Colchester from south Essex.
She said: “I am very pleased to work for Colne, managing this established site and getting to know the community here, some of whom have been here since it was built 20 years ago.
“I enjoy working with the elderly because so many of them have had such fascinating lives and they all have so much to tell. Every day is different and the Orchard Gardens scheme is a particularly attractive site to work in.
“There is a great team spirit at Colne and the job can be very rewarding when you can help resolve any problems and see that the site is well run.”
Colne’s Chief Executive, Mark Powell Davies, said: “Helen is a great addition to our team as we launch our anniversary year.
“We believe it is vital to have a strong management presence at all our sites and we know our residents really appreciate having someone on hand to help whenever they are needed.
“Helen brings a wide range of work experience into the job, and it all has involved working with people and looking after others. She has a great deal of enthusiasm and experience to offer to the Orchard Gardens community.”
Helen’s duties include liaising with all internal and off-site staff including contractors as well as with residents and members of the public to deliver a high quality management service at Orchard Gardens.
