New affordable homes go on sale in Mersea

An Essex housing provider that specialises in affordable homes to help people get on the housing ladder is about to sell a number of new homes on Mersea Island.

Colne Housing, which owns and manages more than 1600 properties across the region, has been working in partnership with Iceni Homes and Mersea Homes to create a range of 2-bed flats on Wellhouse Green.

Sandra Howard, Development Director at Colne Housing, said: “The accommodation at Wellhouse Green would suit either a couple or a small family. The flats are in a fantastic area, with close links to Colchester. Anyone interested in living in a quiet village setting will not be disappointed.”

The flats will be completed in Spring 2007. Colne Housing will give priority to people with links to West Mersea. The homes will be sold on a shared ownership basis, typically at 50%. This will cost around £72,000 plus a monthly rent on the unsold part.
