Giving residents the respect they deserve
7th February 2007
A new initiative to ensure residents’ rights to privacy and peace and quiet has been backed by one of the county’s leading affordable housing providers, Colchester based Colne Housing Society.
Colne, which owns and manages over 1800 properties across North Essex, has signed up to the Government’s ‘Respect Standard for Housing Management’ scheme which aims to stamp out antisocial behaviour in developments before minor issues become serious problems.
The scheme has been set up to help housing professionals, working alongside the police, the education sector and youth services, to tackle poor behaviour throughout the country.
Mark Powell Davies, Chief Executive of Colne Housing, said: “We are very lucky that our developments do not usually attract much antisocial behaviour, but we felt it was important to sign up to the scheme to show that we are committed to dealing such behaviour and are serious about the welfare of our residents.”
Colne Housing, has promised to deal with complaints efficiently and will work with other agencies such as the police, local councils and crime and disorder partnerships to address antisocial behaviour.
