A new face has taken the helm at one of the largest housing associations in the county.

The Board of Colchester based Colne Housing unanimously voted in favour of former Leader of Colchester Council, Bill Frame, as its new Chairman.

Mr Frame is no stranger to Colne having served eleven years on the Board, the last three as Vice Chairman. He takes over the reins from Robert Leng who will remain on the Board.

Mr Frame has strong connections with affordable housing in the area and is currently Chairman of Iceni Homes, a development company owned in partnership between Colne Housing, Suffolk Housing in Bury St. Edmunds and Cotman Housing in Norwich.

Mr Frame said: “These are exciting times for affordable housing in the region and especially in Essex. We are building far more sustainable, low rent homes for families than ever before and are heavily involved in homes for key workers. I would like to pay tribute to my predecessor, Robert Leng, who has been instrumental in driving Colne Housing forward and I intend to keep up his innovative agenda.”

Mark Powell Davies, Chief Executive of Colne Housing, said: “Bill is a great supporter of Colne and the work we do. He has been with us for many years and he brings that experience now to the top job. I am looking forward to working with him in the future.”

Colne Housing owns nearly 2000 properties in the north and mid Essex area and is one of largest housing associations in the county.
