Manningtree Makes Music to Swing!

Residents at a Manningtree retirement complex were treated to some swinging music from the Abbeygate Concert Band at their second annual garden party.
More than 30 musicians in formal tuxedo dress played at the Ironside Walk sheltered housing scheme in front of the Ironside 60-plus Club residents, the Foundry Court Day Centre, local people and staff from the Colne Housing Society -managed retirement complex.
The buffet lunch and tea supported the Ironside 60-plus Club on Colchester Road, Manningtree.
The Ironside Walk sheltered housing accommodation is run and managed by Colne Housing Society, a charitable housing association which manages over 1700 affordable homes throughout North Essex, including some 400 in Tendring.
Kay Wright, Ironside Walk scheme co-ordinator, said the afternoon had been “uplifting and inspiring”.
“Our residents really enjoyed the live music which was delightful and refreshing in these days of so much electronic music. “
The event had been organised by Shirley Horrigan, long-time supporter of Ironside Walk, and her team of fund –raisers for the Ironside 60-plus Club.
