Colne scoops the top award
29th November 2007
Colchester-based Colne Housing, one of the largest affordable housing providers in North Essex, has scooped first prize for its outstanding staff training and development after being judged by an illustrious panel of experts at a prestigious business award ceremony.
Colne Housing won the top accolade on its debut appearance at the Newsquest-sponsored Colchester Business Awards. Its winning team will now be entered into the countywide Essex Business Awards which take place at an Oscar-style awards ceremony next Spring.
The winner’s plaque was presented to Colne Housing to honour the company’s passion for training its staff and providing them with the opportunity to acquire up-to-date knowledge, skills and qualifications as part of the company’s overall business strategy.
Chief Executive Mark Powell Davies said: “It is wonderful to win this award on the first occasion we entered.
“It will give a real boost to our teams who have achieved so much and worked so hard throughout the year. We are delighted to receive the recognition of our peers within the business community.
“Our clear focus has always been to put our customers first and we have invested significantly in ensuring we have the right technology and highly trained staff in place to deliver an outstanding service.
“Most companies will agree that people are an organisation’s biggest asset, but at Colne Housing we really believe it! We realise the importance of having good training and development strategies in place for all of our staff.
“We know Colne Housing’s strength lies in the quality of its service and the people who make that possible.”
Colne Housing, which owns and manages over 2,000 affordable homes across Essex, is committed to providing a challenging, supportive and rewarding work environment for staff. There is a programme for all staff to undertake training, job shadowing, mentoring and coaching. This has resulted in a number of internal promotions.
This culminates in increased motivation and performance which is a ‘win win’ for Colne’s staff, its business and its customers.
