Best Feet Foward for Colne Staff in 'Race for Life'

Colne Girls 'Race for Life'

25th June 2007

A team of top female staff at Colchester based Colne Housing Society are putting their best feet forward to help raise much needed cash in the fight against cancer as part of the national ‘Race for Life’.

The team of seven will be donning their trainers in order to take part in the 5 km race on Sunday 29th July at Wivenhoe Park in the University of Essex. They are Lisa Rothery, Hayley Owen, Kelly Moon, Leigh Tate, Emma Cruickshank, Liz Mullender and Debbie McAndrew.

Speaking during a brief rest from training, Hayley Owen from Colne, said: “Fighting cancer and ensuring people survive this dreadful condition is a crucial thing and all of us wanted to help. What better way of doing so then getting fit ourselves so we decided to swap our office shoes for trainers and get jogging. We hope to raise as much money as possible for this important cause.”

The race gets off at 11am and the course will take the runners round the University and the surrounding areas. It’s hoped that as many as 2,500 women will take part in this local event by either running, jogging or walking the course.
