Home: Homeowners: Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour

Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour

Anti-social behaviour is any unacceptable conduct that affects the quality of community life. It can include many things, from nuisance neighbours and littering to vandalism and intimidation.

Colne Housing Society takes a positive stance in tackling anti-social behaviour. By working together we can help build a culture of respect and improve the quality of life in our community.

Give Respect Get Respect

The Government's Respect Standard for Housing Management sets out how the Police, Local Councils and Housing Associations should work together, both to stamp out problems and support victims, but also to provide support and alternatives for the perpetrators. Colne has signed up to the Standard and will be looking to improve its performance using the partnership approach endorsed by the Respect Agenda.

Respect

Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for your behaviour at all times in your home and your neighbourhood. You are responsible for your family, the people living in your home and anyone visiting your home. You are breaking your tenancy or lease conditions if you create a nuisance to your neighbours, or other people living in the neighbourhood.

What to Do if You Have Problems

If you experience problems with your neighbours, try and talk reasonably to them about it before contacting us. Often they may not be aware that they are causing a nuisance. If problems continue, please contact us on 01206 244700 or at housing@colnehousing.co.uk. You can also consult a solicitor.

If you believe criminal activities are being carried out, you should also contact the police.
