Extra Care Housing

Extra care housing (sometimes called "very sheltered housing"), provides varying levels of care and support on site to assist older people. It tends to be for frailer or more disabled people who want to remain living in their home, but do not need full time nursing or residential care.

We currently have one 16 flat scheme at Ironside Walk, Manningtree. In order to be considered for one of these flats you must be over 60 years of age and require at least four hours personal care per week to help you live independently. We work with Essex Social Services at this scheme. They carry out care assessments for all applicants and provide carers who work on site. This is currently via Colne Care Force.

On the ground floor of this scheme Essex County Council manages Foundry Court; a Community Wellbeing Centre for older people. This means that a range of services and activities are provided there that residents' may choose to use. Access to the day centre services (which are run two or three days per week) is via Essex County Council.
