Private landlords in Maldon and Heybridge are at the heart of a new scheme being launched through a partnership between Colchester’s leading affordable housing provider and Maldon Council.
Colne Housing, which owns and manages more than 2,000 affordable homes in north Essex and Suffolk, is inviting Maldon and Heybridge landlords to get in touch with them if they have three-bedroom houses for long term rent.
The first two homes will lead the way to many others which Colne Housing wants to bring on board in Maldon and Heybridge in response to the growing demand for affordable homes for families in the area, whilst offering security and guaranteed tenants for local landlords.
Colne Housing, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, has attracted Housing Corporation funding to secure two three-bedroomed homes in Maldon and Heybridge.
The funding means local landlords will have the reassurance of tenants who are selected through Maldon Council, paying a guaranteed rent over an extended period of three to five years; Colne Housing will also take care of the maintenance and manage the properties on behalf of the landlords.
Richard Jones, New Business and Commercial Manager at Colne Housing, says: “There is a growing need for three-bedroom rented homes for families in Maldon and Heybridge and we are expecting a great deal of interest from local landlords.
“For very many local families the dream of buying their own home is further away than ever and that is why we are looking forward to being able to offer them the security of a family home and an affordable rent for up to five years.”
