Colne Community Fund – £3k available to support your local community

Set up by Colchester based housing association Colne Housing Society, the Colne Community Fund provides small grants to projects that support the local community.

The grants range from £50 to £500 and any community group or organisation is eligible so long the specified project has a direct impact on the local neighbourhood. A panel of Colne staff and Colne residents assesses each application, and decisions are based on the sustainability of the scheme.

The fund has been a huge success so far, and recent recipients of awards have included: DWS Swimming, given £400 for the provision of two shower chairs to aid those with disabilities, K2 and Kube Youth Clubs in the Hythe area of Colchester, who received £500 to purchase a snooker table and various arts and crafts supplies and the School Lane 02 project in Lawford, who were awarded £500 to cover the costs of improving the surface area of the under 7’s playground.
