Does someone you know deserve to be recognised for the hard work they have done for your local community? Or has someone gone above and beyond the call of duty for you or your family at a time when you needed it most?
We want to celebrate all those people across our neighbourhoods who are providing vital friendship and support to their local community, and so the Resident Hero Awards have been established to give you the opportunity to say thank you for that valued contribution that has made a difference to your life.
No matter what the contribution, we want to hear about it. It could be as simple as someone who collects things for you from the local shops, helps to keep your garden tidy, drives you to an appointment or provides a friendly ear when you need someone to talk to. Equally, if someone has made a significant contribution to the wider community then we want to hear about that as well!
Nominations are welcome for anybody who volunteers their time to help others, and we have broken down the awards into three categories:
1. Individual Resident Hero of the Year (18+)
People can be nominated for doing something as simple as helping keep the garden tidy, driving someone to a regular appointment, or just providing a friendly ear.
2. Young Resident Hero of the Year (under 18)
We are looking for a young resident hero who has done something helpful for their neighbour or the community. For example, an individual who helps a neighbour with their housework or a person who has given up their free time to help run a community event.
3. Community Resident Hero of the Year
We would like to hear if someone has made a contribution to the community as a whole, for example an individual who has helped run a successful youth club or committed their own time into doing something valuable for their community.
However, if you know of someone who has made an impact on you or your community and they do not fall into one of the above categories, then send us their details anyway!
So don’t delay, if there is someone you know who deserves to be recognised, download a nomination form and return to info@colnehousing.co.uk or Hayley Owen, Resources Assistant, Colne Housing Society, Digby House, Riverside Office Centre, Causton Road, Colchester, Essex CO1 1RJ
