Apply for Housing, Transfer or Mutual Exchange

Although Colne Housing Society manages over 2200 properties across Essex, on average we only let 2 or 3 properties a week. The majority of our homes are let to people who are nominated by their local council or who bid via Choice Based Lettings for vacancies. We only accept applications for our waiting list from older people looking for sheltered accommodation, who are over 55 and retired from their main job of employment.

We also process transfers and mutual exchanges for tenants who need or want to move to another property within Colne Housing Society. Alternatively you can also apply for a mutual exchange with another housing association or council.

If you do not meet the criteria for sheltered housing and are looking for housing, you may wish to consider applying to the local authority in the area that you want to live. Colne Housing Society works with the following councils:
