Community Projects

Our approach focuses on enabling individuals and community groups to affect change for themselves. However, we can also get involved in running projects directly when they act as a springboard for further community action. Below are three examples:

Laing Road Street Party – We led a project team of councillors, police, community groups and residents to bring a street party vibe to Greenstead. With activities as diverse as belly dancing, DJ’ing and street art, the theme was one of participation. This event was a major factor in helping to launch Voices for Greenstead.

Streets Alive – Working with firstsite and Voice of Residents United (VORU) we attracted funding for a nationally renowned street artist to work with local children to produce a stunning, original installation. This project has helped build VORU’s confidence to represent the interests of their estate.

Oakapple Community Showcase – Marking the opening of our Oakapple development in Colchester, this event brought together new residents with neighbouring families and highlighted some of the many local community groups. Having built some strong relationships, we are now putting together a number of funding bids to establish extra activities and services.
