Meet the Board Members

Tim Young

Chairman

Tim has been Chairman since September 2012. He has long been a champion of affordable housing, and was previously chair of an arms length management organisation. Amongst his many roles, he is a local councilor, portfolio holder for planning, vice chair of Essex Probation trust and a non-executive director of Southend University NHS Foundation Trust.

Carol Wilkinson

Vice Chairman

Carol is self employed as a Business Consultant working with companies to develop their businesses and operational processes. Carol is Chair of The Coggeshall Friends of Cancer Research UK and the group organises fund raising events within the local community. Carol sits on Finance and General Purposes and Audit committees.

Michael Andrews

Michael joined the board in 2006. He is a retired Company Director, Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers, Member of Service Monitoring Group, Mental Health Act Manager and Chair of Governors at Market Field School. Michael has a particular interest in the welfare of people with learning disabilities and mental health problems. Mike chairs Audit and sits on Finance & General Purposes committee.

Stephen Beresky

Stephen joined the board in 2013. He is a graduate in civil and structural engineering. He began his career in engineering before switching to corporate commerce where he specialised in change management. He now runs an executive coaching consultancy, and is Chairman of the Careers Academy at Colchester Institute, a trustee of Colchester Community Volunteer Service, and Project Leader for the Essex India internship programme.

Andrew Crayston

Andrew joined the board in 2006. He is Senior Partner in Fenn Wright Estate Agents and Surveyors and sits on Operations committee.

William Frame MiPD

Bill was the Society Chairman since September 2007, was Vice Chairman from 2004-2007 and has been a member of Colne's Board since 1996. He previously worked in Human Resources in a senior role in the energy and water industries. Bill was previously Leader of Colchester Council and a non Executive Director of North Essex Mental Health Trust and has strong connections with affordable housing in the area. He is also currently a Board Member of Iceni Homes, an Associate Mental Health Manager and a councillor for Colchester Borough Council.

Julie Hoy

Julie joined the board in 2013. She is qualified as a commercial property solicitor in 2005 and she deals with a wide range of residential and commercial freehold and leasehold transactions. Julie has particular expertise in property development and construction agreements, including golden brick, options, conditional contracts and overage arrangements. She also extensive experience in acting for registered social landlords dealing with their site acquisition and development agreements, shared ownership schemes and section 106 agreement negotiations.

Jeff Jenkinson MVO

Jeff joined the board in 2009 and has had a career based on the maritime and property sectors.  For 15 years he worked at board level as a Chief Executive; ten years in property and five years running the third busiest harbour in the UK - Harwich Haven. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Environment Agency's Anglian (Eastern) Regional Flood Defence Committee and is also a member of the General Committee of the Seaman's Hospital Society. Jeff sits on the Finance and General Purposes, and personnel committees.

Jean Mallett

Jean rejoined the board on in 2009 and is the board’s expert on Supported Housing issues. She currently works for the West Essex PCT as a Project Manager (Learning Disabilities) and sits on the Operations committee.

Kevin Sturdy

Kevin joined the board on in 2009. Kevin has a background in audits and is a qualified accountant- currently employed by Kent Blaxill & Co Ltd as Finance Director and Company Secretary.  Kevin sits on the Finance and General Purposes committee.

John White

John joined the board in 2004 as a co-opted member from Tendring District Council and in 2007 was elected as a full board member. John is Chair of the Operations Committee and also sits on the Audit and Finance and General Purposes committees.
